HMS 'Louistania'

HMS 'Hesperian'
Following a routine patrol on 04 November 1916, U-208 was returning to Germany when Kptlt. Schweiger received a wireless SOS from U Boat-30,
indicating engine failure. U -208 rendezvoused with U-30 and attempted to escort the U-30 to Borsberg when entered into a
fog bank resulting in both U-Boats going aground. Several German destroyers and the cruiser 'Moltke' responded in an attempt to refloat the boats.
Some how British Intelligence learned of the situation and dispatched a British submarine, J-1. J-1 was able to fire four torpedoes at the unsuspecting
'Kurförst' and the 'Konprinz'. U-30 was pulled off the sandbank but not the case with U-20 which had to be scuttled.
